About
Ron Schmidt is an award-winning business communications professional who has driven internal and external communications initiatives for Cisco, Guidant, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, Secure Computing, Ramp Networks, Farallon and many other organizations. He is a past president of the International Association of Business Communicators, an active professional blogger, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a strong proponent for sharing best practices in the communications field. Ron has a B. A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
Consulting
As managing director of Rosswood Communications, Ron provides a range of cost-effective strategic communications services to technology companies, including corporate news editing, public relations, internal communications, executive communications, company positioning, and integrated communications planning. Past and present clients include Cisco, Guidant, Secure Computing, Tollbridge Technologies, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, BNIM Architects and Rumsey Engineers.
Speaking
Ron has presented at MacWorld, Co-op America Green Business Conference, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University and various trade associations. In May 2009, he co-led a Social Media Crash Course with Rene Siegel and Brian Johnson.
Mentoring
Ron began formally mentoring aspiring communications professionals and individuals in career transition in 1998 through his association with the (now defunct) Career Action Center in Cupertino, Calif. He enjoys working 1:1 with students, executives, small business owners and other ambitious individuals to help them cultivate their personal brand and achieve career success.
Writing
Ron penned a series of how-to articles for the Berkeley Macintosh Users Group newsletter and was an active member in the organization. He has written over 50 user manuals and has had articles published articles in Macazine and Yoga International. He enjoys blogging on strategic communications issues.
